The Ortega House is a real pearl of art and culture, located in a privileged position with unique panoramas.
This house museum houses some of the Spanish artist's works created in the 1970s after his move to Matera.
The project, carried out by the Zetema Foundation, aims to make Ortega's life and works known through his home, which has been finely decorated with ceramics and fine furnishings.
Inside the Ortega House, you can admire over twenty works by the artist, including bas-reliefs made with local techniques improved by his talent.
Ortega was an extremely talented artist and had a passion for papier-mâché, which he combined with his artistic talent to create unique works.
He had the opportunity to learn from some of the most famous papier-mâché masters of the Città dei Sassi, later becoming a world-renowned artist.
