Walking through the historic center, you reach the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, today of Baroque appearance with the bell tower as the only testimony of its Norman past.
Melfi Castle and Archaeological MuseumThe visit continues with the National Archaeological Museum located in the imposing Castle of Melfi, one of the most beautiful in southern Italy, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Melfi hill. The Museum preserves collections that illustrate the life, beliefs and customs of the populations who lived in this area from protohistory to the Roman age and above all preserves the highly prized Sarcophagus of Rapolla.
Estate with vineyards - PaternosterAt the end of the visit, you will be taken to a precious wine estate, the Paternoster estate, which has twenty hectares of vineyards, organically managed, which rise up to 643 meters above sea level. A magical place where the highly prized wine of the Tommasi family flows with its Doc, Aglianico del Vulture. VenosaAfter this splendid experience, we arrive at the vault of Venosa, famous above all for being the birthplace of the Latin poet of the "Carpe Diem", Quinto Orazio Flacco. After visiting the Church of SS. Trinità, continues with the entrance to the Roman archaeological park which preserves a thermal complex from the 2nd century. A.D.
Historic center of VenosaAfterwards, walking through the historic center you will visit the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea, the Angioina fountain, the Castello del Balzo and the famous Casa di Orazio. Return to Matera.
