The Cistern House is one of the most interesting attractions of the Sassi of Matera, one of the ancient cave-houses dug into the limestone rock of this city.

Located in the Sasso Caveoso, this cave house has been furnished in order to highlight the rainwater collection system, an indispensable resource for the survival of the inhabitants of the Sassi.

During the visit to the Cistern House, you will be able to admire the original furnishings of this house and discover how rainwater was collected and stored for later use. Additionally, you will be able to see a reproduction of the water supply system, illustrating how water was transported within the house.

The Cistern House is an unmissable stop for anyone visiting the Sassi of Matera, as it offers a unique opportunity to discover the traditions and way of life of the first inhabitants of this unique city. Easily reachable from Via Buozzi, the Cistern House is a place where history and culture blend with the beauty of nature.
