06/04/2023The Gusto Italia food and wine, tourism and handicraft fair restarts from Matera with a new calendar that will touch many cities and tourist resorts in central-southern Italy until next September.
This event will take place from Wednesday 5 to Monday 10 April, from 10 to 23, between Via Luigi La Vista and Piazza Vittorio Veneto .
Gusto Italia in Tour - Easter 2023 of Matera is part of the Spring Events Program of the Municipality of Matera, thanks to the Italia Eventi Association, which was awarded the tender in the Markets and Events tender.
The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Matera, thanks to the mayor Domenico Bennardi and the councilor for culture and the Sassi Tiziana D'Oppido, and is organized in collaboration with the Materani Chefs Association, chaired by Giovan Battista Guastamacchia, the Pro Loco Matera and Radio Radiosa .
During the fair, producers and artisans will present their products, and there will be tasting rooms and attractions.
This fair is an excellent option for tourists who will reach the UNESCO heritage city during the long weekend of the Easter festivities.
The presence of the local radio station, Radio Radiosa, will make it possible to attend the numerous live broadcasts scheduled during the six days of the event.
Furthermore, tourist and information material will be distributed free of charge to visitors at the Tourist Info Point thanks to the commitment of the Pro Loco and IGC Loperfido Olivetti of Matera.
During the event, there will also be collateral events and activities, including show cooking and insights dedicated to typical Lucanian products, organized by the Istituto Alberghiero “A. Turi” of Matera, of the Materan Chefs Association, of Amira and of AIS Basilicata.
These workshops will be an excellent opportunity for visitors to discover the gastronomic culture of the area and deepen their knowledge of typical local products.
The Gusto Italia fair in Matera will also be an opportunity to talk about local culture and traditions.
The presence of many valuable associations, schools, local musical and artistic groups will allow a 360-degree story of its identity. In particular, the Chefs' Association will bring with it an important baggage of sector events and awards which, for years, have rewarded its meticulous work aimed at local traditions.
This fair represents a great opportunity for the city of Matera and for the producers and artisans who will participate.

Matera, a city with a thousand-year history and a unique gastronomic culture, hosts the Gusto Italia in Tour event from 5 to 11 April.
The event offers an authentic culinary experience, with a variety of traditional Italian specialties and creative dishes prepared by top chefs.
The program is packed with activities for all ages, including show cooking, wine tastings, concerts, theater performances, and an exhibition of Italian handicrafts.
The culinary event begins on Wednesday 5 April with " La Cucina Materana ", an appointment that lasts from 10 to 18 and offers a wide choice of typical dishes of the city, prepared by local chefs. In the evening, chef Emanuele Ricchiuti presents the "Italian Champion Dish of the National Competition".
The following day, Thursday 6 April, chef Enzo Contini prepares the suckling pig fillet.
Friday 7 April is chef Emanuele Mele's turn with the "Tipico Lucano".
On Saturday 8 April, at 6 pm, chef Vincenzo Laguardia presents his creation "Amouse bouche, black pillow cuttlefish crackers, peppers and cherry tomatoes".
Sunday 9 April, at 6 pm, chef Antonio Farella prepares the timbale of ziti, stuffed with ricotta and porcini mushrooms.
Each show cooking is accompanied by a wine pairing curated by the maitre and sommelier Giuseppe Magno.
Furthermore, on Saturday 8 April, from 10 to 13 and from 16 to 19, visitors will be able to participate in a chess game on a giant chessboard with living chess, organized by the Nicola Lapacciana Materana Chess Academy.
The National Puppet Theater of master puppeteer Mauro Apicella will be present from Friday to Monday with live performances.
Street artists Miky&RoArtevents will entertain the public on Easter evening, while the popular music group from Matera Le Ninnelle will close the Easter Monday evening.
Gusto Italia in Tour also offers a wide selection of Italian artisan products, which you can buy directly from local producers.
You can find typical Lucanian products such as homemade pasta, cheeses, cured meats and cruschi peppers, including the famous canestrato di Moliterno and a medieval wine.
In addition, producers from other Italian regions will be present, including Puglia, Campania, Calabria and Sicily, who will offer crumbly taralli with a new recipe without yeast, in oil, fine cured meats obtained from Calabrian black pigs, crunchy pistachio and almond
